Jiří Sopko is one of the most outstanding representatives of the Czech figural art. He appeared in the Czech artistic scene in the end of the sixties. During the “normalization” he had to remain inactive. At that time he made his living as a conservator and worked for the theatre of Ctibor Turba. Since 1989 he has been teaching at the reformed Prague Academy of Fine Arts in the Studio One. In 2003 he vas elected rector of this school. He took part in many prestigious shows of contemporary art both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
